I want to assemble an AR with my 10 yr old and have it be viable when she leaves the nest someday. Is Keymod it or should I go with the best rail available now?

I think MLOK will push it to being pretty uncommon in the next 2-3 years.

Kind of like  how quadrails are so hard to find now.

Go mlok. I have both, mlok is better.

I have a BCM KMR Alpha rail on one of my uppers and it is super nice. I don't have anything attached to it yet as it is really just a range toy but it definitely saves weight and doesn't cut your hands up.

Dickmod is not a fad. How else are you going to get a hand guard with predawn dicks? Think of all the Marine man hours saved by equipment coming with dicks already on it.

I like my key mod.

I love my quad rail.

Get what you will need. Most products today are at least semi useful.

Odds are that we may become closer and more familiar to them over the next couple years

I really wish BCM made an MLOK KMR.  They could call it the MLR.  But yeah, I actually started off with KM (Noveske NSR) and have owned a few KMRs, but I still prefer MLOK.  I feel the attachment method is easier to install and more secure.  It also helps that everyone seems to be venturing into the MLOK world while some seem to be ditching KM altogether.

I would change out keymod for the sake of going mlok.

But if it was a new build I would go mlok.

Actually, I would sell an existing keynod to offset the mlok.

I've noticed that almost every upper in PSA's daily deal emails is a keymod upper, and when you look at their site the MLok version is often out of stock.

What makes you prefer it?

I have keymod on all of mine.

I'm indifferent. It does what I need it to do, but I'm not a loyalist to Keymod either.

I've had both. I had a DDM4V11 a while back, and now I have a DDM4V7 (2016). The V7 with MLOK is lighter, more comfortable to grip, and looks cleaner. I do not like the cheese grater quad rails, which require me to attach some kind of rail covers to grip. I am a big fan of the V7 with MLOK.

I went with M-loc because I think magpul will have more customer support, and regardless I like the links of M-loc better, and I can make mounting pieces for M-loc, while I can not make keymod parts.

I think the market is shifting in favor to mlok, check out kinect qd stuff, nothing like that for keymod.

Plus, MK4 mlok rail is the bees knees.

Quad rails are best rails. If your weak womanly hands can't handle a Picatinny rail, they will never handle combat.

I prefer Mlok. That being said, why would Keymod make the rifle not viable. If you got what you need mounted to it, and it functions, then does it matter if they stop making keymod products?

Long story, but when my guns got run over, everything keymod fell off. Everything.

Conversely, everything picatinny mounted stayed on.

I will never buy anything keymod ever again. MLOK, maybe.

Male guns or female guns? I prefer the males.

They will probably all be available, but the military will still be using the quad.

I believe this would be more of common occurrence if all the arfcom operators actually used and abused their rifles.

Anyone with hard combat experience will tell you picatinny quad rail. They are very durable and your accesories wont come loose or off when you need them the most. There is a reason for this. Quad rail FTW.

Nope actually it's about that time.
And no it is not a fad. It will be around for a long time. And as long as there are closet homosexuals on ARFcom it will be called dickmod.
