http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/27/politics/john-koskinen-irs-impeach/index.html Washington (CNN)A group of House Republicans moved Tuesday to impeach the head of the IRS, the tax agency struggling to recover from scandal. Republicans on the House Oversight Committee introduced a resolution calling for the ouster of IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, who became head of the agency after an official there acknowledged targeting conservative nonprofit groups during the last presidential campaign. The Justice Department recently closed its investigation of the matter, with no charges against former IRS official Lois Lerner or anyone else at the agency. Republicans have said Koskinen has not complied with their investigation. |

Is there any way this will possibly end well for our side? Or is it another "let's push this for a while then drop it without accomplishing anything" plan? "Our side" ![]() Sorry, wasn't clear, by "our side" I meant "we the people." I'm well aware that I have no "side" with the people in power... |

That's why A: this isn't going anywhere and B: How the GOPe is about to, yet again, make themselves look like assholes to the small but critical part of the electorate in the middle that will decide what happens in 2016. I swear to God they do it on purpose.

Depends on who's calling for the investigation. So...yes. Quoted:

The House can impeach easily enough, but without another 12 senators willing to convict, it's just for show.
The thing is, is that the overwhelming majority of voters believe that the IRS intentionally targeted Obama's political enemies, and that they willfully destroyed evidence. Koskinen might not have the name recognition of Lois Lerner among the citizenry, but pretty much everyone believes that there was severe wrongdoing at the IRS. Depending on how the Republicans play this, the Democrats may fracture on this. They offer up this one smarmy reptile as a sacrifice and gain the appearance of impartiality and righteousness. |

It is as, Sen Cruz calls them, show votes. Meant to appear as the Republican are staunchly doing something...when they are actually doing nothing. |

Quoted: I fully expect this to go nowhere. It will be worse than that. The R's will end up looking like dipshits, no one will be held responsible, the bureaucracy will be worse and whatever Dem they try to grill on the stand will sell a book later talking about his "ordeal". Oh, and you and I will foot the bill. |

That's what Koskinen was appointed for. He wasn't there when the original crimes were committed, he's the scapegoat. But not to worry - the Party will take care of him with a big dollar job consulting for lobbyists. |
