Driving home from a nice little hiking trip this weekend, a 62 y/o woman in a 2005 Toyota Corolla ran right in to the passenger front tire of my 2005 (Paid with cash) Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. After checking myself and the wife for broken bones (no serious injuries, it looks like), we got out and looked around for the little old lady... Who was damn near bawling in her car, which now looked like it had run into a brick wall (front end completely smashed) Cops ruled it to be her fault. Wrecker came and took my car to the lot. I've got Geico - she's got Alfa. Alfa insurance people are, like parrots, saying "It can be fixed. It can be fixed. It can be fixed..." . Geico is sending an adjuster to go see it this week (tomorrow or next day). I've got call documentations, pictures of the vehicles and scene, and pictures of the minor injuries we got (my wrist is bruised up from the airbag and the wife has seatbelt burn.) I believe the A-frame on the Taco is bent up - the suspension looks like it got hit by the fist of an angry god. Passenger front side is nearly on the ground, wheel shoved forward into the wheelbase (and ruptured)... back driver side is sticking a foot higher than it should be. So, Arfcom, educate me... is there something else I should be doing? My ideal outcome is that the insurance writes me a check for the book value of the truck. I really am thinking that a truck that has had the frame bent will never be the same again! What can I do the ensure that the insurance is bent to my will? (I've already considered drawing down...) |
