There has been posted on here before a website that has all the common utilities that should be installed after windows installation.
The user selects which ones they want and then they are installed unattended. They are all freeware. Does anyone here remember the site name? Thanks, Fidel |

Ive never heard of it. "Should be installed" seems like a user preference to me.... I typically used freeware on my windows machines that is well vetted and in most cases licensed under the GPL with a *nix counterpart. I always get quality stuff this way and have no problems. just a few quick ones you might like: Notepad++ gVIM Infra Burner (cd/dvd burner) AudioGrabber (cd ripper) VLC media player Anything from the Mozilla Foundation (Firefox, Thunderbird, enigmail/GnuPG) |

I'm talking the basics. Adaware Spybot Adobe Primopdf WinRAR etc. On the website I'm looking for they are all segregated by type. You just click and choose the apps you want. http://download.cnet.com/windows/ |

Ghost Script / Ghost View / GS View (alternatives to Adobe pdf bloatware) 7Zip for archive management (replacement for WinRAR) Try Snapfiles if you want to browse, Ive used that site for years to get good software with no issues. Sourceforge and Freshmeat.net are also great places to go browse. |
