I am looking at getting another pistol.

I currently have a 1911 in .45 and a 1911 clone compact in .380

both serve their purpose but I feel the need for more round capacity.

So I am contemplating a 9mm

so far the only one that I have found that I like at all is the Beretta 92fs

What says the hive?

92fs is good once you get used to its 'oddities' which are just different (safety on decocks, etc.)  I got rid of mine simply to help consolidate on caliber, it was a great gun.

That said, there are 9mm and doublestack (and doublestack 9mm!) 1911 pattern pistols out there, I believe Para makes some and I thought Kimber does or did as well.

The 92FS is a good pistol, but it is awfully big for what it is.

There are a lot of more size-efficient 9mms available today.

I guess we need to know the mission role.  Concealed carry?  Home defense?  Collection piece/no defined mission?

If you have big hands like I do, though, you will enjoy the 92FS.

No particular mission. I just like the way it handled. I got to shoot the son in laws and by the second mag I had better accuracy than I do with my full size 1911.

Two letters.

(ETA - The full-size SP01 series has 19 round factory mags, so that should fufill your desire for more capacity.)

My first handgun was a 92fs.  I loved that old work horse.  I later picked up a 96 INOX because I thought 40 is bigger than 9 thus 40>9.  Boy was I wrong.  I kept that 96 for several years before dumping it in a trade for a sig.  I wish I still had that old 92.  I don't even remember if I sold it or traded it, or what the hell happened to it.

Judging by your avatar, I'm surprised the two letters you gave him weren't "H K" .

The alternative I was going to suggest was three letters: "S I G."

The only HK handgun I like is the P7. It also fits in the pic, since it's normally Sousuke's carry piece there (which is actually a G26, but I can't stand for that...) and my carry piece is a P7.

My USPSA Limited racegun is a CZ (75 Tactical Sports in .40), I will be sending off a standard 75B to ADCO here soon to get threaded for my Trident, and will be buying a SP01 Shadow Custom within the next 6 months.
