| My computers got the ebolaz. It was down since Sunday, just got it back online now. What free or cheap malware protection should I be using? |

Get Malwarebytes and Super Antispyware, both free and effective. Reboot into Safe Mode, run both, reboot normal and run them again.
If that doesn't get rid of what ails you, then you may find some helpful hints in this video. Virus Alert. |

I tried reupping for free, and it didn't work. I'm not all that computer savvy however... |

It sounds like you may have activated the TRIAL version of Malwarebytes Premium and that is what ended. If so then see this link: I keep getting notified that my trial has expired, how do I revert to the free version? Edit: If that doesn't work then simply uninstall Malwarebytes then reinstall it making sure NOT to enable the trial version during the installation. |

To be honest, just wipe the drive and re-install all your software. Parted magic wipe(s), then re install. Keep all your programs and OS up to date. Sorry That is the ultimate way to deal with any infection, and the only true way to ensure your virus/malware free. However prior to that often very time consuming last resort I'd go with Combofix which I've used to fix several severely infected PC's that had programs on them that couldn't be resorted from original install media In the future the OP should be running a backup program on his PC so one can do a quick OS restore. However, the downside is that if your already infected when you run the backup, the backup will still contain the infection. Necessitating a full wipe and restore from original install media. |
