That's not a turtle it's a tortoise.

The only way to tell the difference is to gently stroke its nose.  Tortoises like that, they get giddy.  Turtles go to sleep.

Give us an after action report after you try it.

I can tell you aren't from the southern part of the state since we eat those down here. Snapping turtles are good food in soup.

I always heard it said that they would not let go till it thunders.

Pretty much same thing I guess. You might be waiting a long time for either.

I heard that if you wiggle your little toe in front of his face, he will fall asleep. You should try it.

Imagine for a moment that this thing is not anything that can be identified because it prefers not to be. Wherever there is life, it brings death, because it is evil, absolute evil.

Snapping turtle.  The honey badger of the reptile world.  They willed themselves into existence just because they could.  They don't give a fuk about anything .  They will attack plaything that gets in there way.   They are mean and have a nasty temper.    The head and neck is over have the length of the shell.    They are very good eating.

Evil in a shell

Yummy yummy evil

My buddy had one as a pet when we were little, it was a baby and the size of a half dollar.
We would feed it minnows and hold twigs in front of its face and watch it snap them in half in the blink of an eye, when it got too big he took it to his pond and let it go

A few years ago he ended up shooting it as it was eating the ducklings and all the fish he started to stock.

That is the cousin of the possom known as the armadillo.   Possom on the hard shell, if you know what I mean.
