I said I was never going to build an AMD system again.  but the deal on the 64 3000+ was just to good to pass up.  And the OC reviews look very promising.

I hope I don't have to eat my words.

I also bought my first Gigabyte MB.  I'm normally a Abit or Asus man.

I have always thought I might build a AMD system but I just stick with what I know.

On the side note, I really like MSI boards.  Always been real stable for me and I liek the Core center that allows you to overclock from windows.

i think you will be a very happy man.

just don't blow an awesome mb and processor with crappy memory.  kingston or crucial seem to work well with this setup, just set your latency timming down to 1 or 2 in the bios.  dont use apacer, it won't be stable.

My Athlon 3200 overclocked to like a 3600 works ok. My Gigabyte board pisses me off to no end since the on board sound does not seem to work no matter what I do. The computer sees it and thinks it's working, but I get nothing but low volume garbled crap out of the card. I think my next upgrade will involve a P4 and an ABit board. I've always had great luck with Abit.

i've been running AMD for 5 or so years. Various procs using a couple of different boards. They do tend hot, but it ain't no big thang.   For the oc they're great.

My AMD seems to draw less power than the latest Pentium 4 3.2 GHz processors. My electricity bill says so.

However, if I were in the market for a new PC, I'd rather just get a Dell and not deal with crappy RMA's and returns on crap that breaks in a few days.

The A-64 3000 was exactly what I chose when I upgraded from my P4-1500 a couple of months ago.  It is a great price/performance point.  It works great.  You won't be disappointed.

My last PC was a P4, but I prefer AMD.  I have never had a problem with either, but the AMD's are usually less expensive for the same performance.

Great choice.
