Yabba Dabbo Doo........I just got back from taking a piss test for a job!!!! The piss test and back ground check are formalities as I don't do drugs and don't commit crimes. This is a job as a Maintenance Mechanic {my field} , the commute is about 18 miles one way.....gonna be a bit of a bitch in the winter. All I am waiting for is the HR lady to get the results, and they will tender an offer! It's not as much as I was making at my old job, but it a shit pile better than a lot of other obs that I put in for, but no call backs on. I don't ever want to hear "over qualified" again!!!! With any luck.........by Monday afternoon I will have an offer in hand!!! My biggest question right now is..........why the hell do they send a piss test to Kansas from NH.................don't they do that shit in New England?!!!!  |

Got the call about an hour ago. I start Monday AM. I will work days for about a month, then transition to my regular shift, 3:30 to midnight will be my normal shift. The company has a good Benny package and I start at 2 dollars an hour less than what I was making when I was laid off. Things are looking up!!!!

I'm in the same boat OP. I should here something this next week. My drive will go from 120 miles round trip each day to 12. Pay is the same but the work is better and more in line with what I want to do.
I will get 3 hours of my life back that had spent driving every day. |

If you are just looking for any job, they're plenty of $8 and hour some of them part time. 18 miles is not a big deal in the summer..........I can ride the motorcycle and make it a really nice ride home or to work.....barring the moose , deer and other wildlife I may encounter at midnight coming home. During the winter it will be a little different, Corigan Hill can be a bitch going either way if it is slippery out.......if I start sliding going into Lancaster it will be like a Harry Chapin song!!![30,000 lbs of bananas]. Good luck in your search, we always want to make more or better our possibilities!!! |

One of the biggest testing companies is in Kansas. It also happens to be the same place my father in-law just got laid off from this week. Things are tough all over for everyone and it seems to be getting worse. |

Its not so bad for now, but ill be looking for a closer place before the winter…. |
