Out here, deer hunting is cut up into two time frames. I wasn't able to get out for the first half, but the second half is coming up and I'm not going to miss it!

I'm getting hungry for some venison and venison jerky.

I wish there were more small furry critters to shoot year round here.

A long time ago, it was tough as leather. My Grandfather must've found the oldest toughest elk on the planet. I remember using a saw to cut it, and then a hammer to tenderize it (really ). I miss that old man.

I've had quite a bit of deer jerky though. I took my entire last deer (minus backstaps and a few select steaks) and made it into jerky. That was a few years back as well.

I will be getting up tomorrow at about 4:30 AM, going into the woods, hauling my fat ass, a tree stand and a muzzle loader up a tree, and then proced to stare at the forest for about 5 hours before I get tired of it and then go to lunch.

I can't wait!!
