Guys, the chat server has dropped everybody/rebooted about 20 times since Saturday. Can we get somebody to look at it please? |
| It crashed today, and alternatively, services were down, so we were in a moderated (anyone who wants speak must be voiced) and no one was voiced, and no one was op'ed. In other words, we were all there and couldn't say a damn word. Someone needs to at least say they give a damn about keeping the people who use this chat happy, even if you don't mean it. The server sucks serious balls and drops us multiple times daily. |

Ok even though Goatboy is going to be the only one who can look into the problem or even begin to deal with it I thought I'd try to see what all of the fuss is about. As far as I can tell on Monday I stayed logged in for ~12 hours. I'll leave the chat server window open when my PC is on for at least a few days. I'm connecting via the java chat window which seems to make it very obvious if you stay connected or not. If you stay connected all of the chat can be scrolled through if not you are back at the log in window, of course a dropped internet connection will look probably look the same too. ETA- it dropped out sometime between 000 and 0615 pst 12/29/2010 |

It will say up for long lengths of time, then crash. Other times it crashes repetitively, sometimes only working for a minute to a few minutes between crashes. Are you connecting via IRC or using a java chat window? I don't know what it will show you in a java window, if you're on IRC it will be really obvious as you will get disconnected, and if you have auto-reconnect working with the right settings you get to see everyone else reconnecting. If it would be helpful we could post timestamps from when it crashes... ETA: If anyone is reading this... an unrelated question. We get visitors pretty regularly who come in and are having trouble logging in, lost passwords and that sort of thing. What is the best email address to give them, or what should be refer them to? |

There were running probably 10 to 20 crashes a day prior to probably Dec 28th or so.
