well, after 15 months on a combat outpost in Iraq, I am finally home. Its kind of surreal at this point, I was on patrol taking contact only an hour before I got on the bird to fly out. Ive only been off the plane for a couple hours, but ive got my kids here with me and its definately good. I wish we could have brought everyone home, but we are back and its over for now. I also wanted to say thanks to the members here for all the support you guys gave my platoon this entire time. you all really kept us afloat for a while there, being stuck at the outpost with no access to anything for a long time. You all have my sincerest thanks and those of my entire platoon as well. I can honestly say that Ive seen the positive results of our efforts in iraq and wont let anyone say otherwise. we basically got dropped into a hostile city and left to build our own outpost, and it was pretty rough. In leaving I have seen my city make a complete 360 in terms of security and the overall welfare of its inhabitants. Thank you so much for what you do. Both for dealing with our enemies abroad, and for helping to stabilize a people who had the rug pulled from under them. Seeing that marketplace full and thriving is a testament against anyone who says we're not getting anything done. |
