Hummingbirds have a very interesting way of flying.  I particularly think that using it as the basis of a propulsion system for a low altitude ground attack air vehicle would give it much more maneuverability over a helicopter.  It wouldn't be the fastest thing, per se, or fly the highest, but it would be much more agile than a helicopter.  Is there any research or experimentation being done on this?
