Is really... really... wait for it... FUCKING GAY! I FUCKING HATE IT! It's so goddamn slow! I could get a teaspoon and paddle from California to Hawaii bringing back a spoonful of sand, and by the time I'd be done, a 200mb file would still be downloading. I'm supposed to get 1.5mbps downloads, but no, I've been getting 70kbps downloads recently. I fucking hate this shit! Oh not to mention, if I download more than 275mb a day, I get FAP'd, and then it becomes 8x slower than motherfuckin' dialup for 24 hours! If I ever meet the CEO of Hughes, I'd gladly spend life in prison after brutally raping, stabbing, and beating him for 3 months, only to run him feet first through a woodchipper!

ETA: It's $80 a month for the service...

So I take it you didn't ask about it here before getting it installed?

Yeah, it blows.  It blew when they called it DirectWay.  It'll blow even more when you cancel early and they slap you with a $300 early termination fee.

It was DirecWay before nub, and unfortunately this is my only option...

Sat internet blows. Get used to it. Have you looked into a cell based provider like verizon?

Yep, if I can't get a different broadband ISP, I may have to start playing russian roulette.

Something tells me there's a Mb v. KB thing going on here, but I'm too lazy to think about it right now.

I've got Wildblue since I live 15 miles out in the country. Not too shabby, and my speeds are close to advertised speeds. No problem with FAP, it's a rolling 30 day window and I've never used more than 51%, two computers in constant use throughout the day. Ping sucks, but that's part of the joy of satellite internet.

Hughes has a bad rep. around here, and WB only requires a two year commitment.

Hughes Net shares your bandwidth with others in hopes of you're not using it.  Kind of like having 5 subscribers on one section designed for one, maybe two.  They log on and it goes to shit.
If you want higher speeds expect to shell out big time.  I just renewed our contract for our 2Mb down 512 up and it costs me $195 every day I use it.  But that is dedicated bandwidth and I can call the NOC and request bigger if needed.

Got most of the sites on the network that I deal with that were on HughesNet off of it....mostly with low cost DSL that became available...
Yes, it STINKS

My only option right now too. OP, you know if you go over your amount you can call and they can reset it. You can only do it once in a 30 day period. They won't tell you or offer though, you have to ask. I even upgraded t the cheapest business class in the hopes it would be better so don't try that either.
