We still have quite a bit of ground to cover in the North.  Tikrit has the potential to be a bitch.  Mosul and Kirkuk could be headaches as well.

I'd guess 2-4 weeks to control the North, then about 2-3 weeks flushing out the diehards.  Getting the Iraqi's to govern themselves with Freedom and Justice is anyones bet.

I'd say the 'easy part' is over.

The northern sunni/Ba'ath areas are gonna be a bitch.  Some of those people are fighting as Sun Tzu put 'on Death's ground' they have no future.

It should only take 3 or 4 more years to; find proof of Sadams death, find proof of WMD, recover all the US Bodies and POWS, set up an interim gov't, oversee "free" elections, repeal a turkish invasion or northern Iraq, put down the Kurdish rebellion for a independant kurdish state, and then pull all the US troops out of the region....

Okay, maybe 4 or 5 years.

A week to a month until shooting stops.  Then there will be scattered terror attacks there but I doubt those will be as bad as some predict--enough of the locals will be on our side that we will get intel about most truck bombs and drive-by shooters before they can hit us.

another week to kill enough baath party loyalists to force a general surrender or implosion.

i agree with ar15fan's timeline to establish a new government and stabilize the country. 5 years, tops.

hey, i heard bagdad bob failed to report for work this morning. did he hit the snooze button?
