Hi everyone,
I'm in the Army Reserves (31B) and going to be at Benning in May for the Direct Commission BOLC course. Anyone go through that particular BOLC recently have any stories to tell or advice to give? Wondering what the living arrangements are like and what to bring beyond the packing list. Also, I'd like to video chat via Skype with my kids, so I was wondering if there was internet access or do I just have to resort to phone calls. Thanks in advance! Brchan |
| You know how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Then you can bass DC BOLC. Its the ultimate gentleman's course and is by no means rigorous or challenging. You'll have plenty of personal time and your instructors are usually on their way out the door anyway. So... have fun, it'll be boring. |

Back in BOLC2 (God rest its worthless soul) the DC guys knew pretty much nothing...so I suppose that indicates the worth of DC BOLC. Shut your pie hole butter bar... as a rather shitty BOLC II instructor once shouted at a range when the prior service Ranger qualified 3 tours in Iraq/Afghanistan 2nd LT corrected the SSG at Red Cloud Range during a live fire of the M2. (I was a BOLC II instructor... no not that one). DC BOLC is cushy OP... you can probably go through sitting in a wheelchair with an oxygen mask blind and limp and pass... |

I did get to launch a bunch of 203 over a tree line though. I remember the SF 2LT was always pissed off...I guess i am starting to realize why he was so pissed. What can stop 40 LTs? 1 ROAD E-6. What company were you in BTW? My biggest takeway was how much RIP sucked. |

I was fortunate in one class when I had what amounted to a squad of Ranger Qd 2LTs who laughed as our illustrious platoon mentor demonstrated how to "take cover under IDF" then dived into the virtues of being the #1 man in the door as a leader. One class we had a former 18B SFC, who became a CW3 AH-64 pilot, who became a 2LT fixed wing (rarity) for the RC-12 Guardrail. Talk about "man of the world". I let him do run the OPFOR during the "FTX" |
