There's some mustang car club you can join to get the xplan price.

Which makes me wonder how much of a deal it really is?

When I bought my fusion in 14 they told me it only applied to msrp.  Their lot price was lower than msrp with the x plan discount and they wouldn't let me use it with their price.

They could have been bsing me though.

X plan is garbage, you can often get well below that price with negotiations and rebates.

This says it works with rebates and incentives

basically Dealer Invoice - (0.4% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee*
xplan caps BS fees by dealers. Xplan price is before rebates and incentives.

When we were vehicle shopping a few years ago we were told that we could do better without the x plan at the dealership. Don't know if he was bull shitting. It didn't really matter because we didn't go Ford

I don't work at a ford dealer, but I work for an auto group that has a Ford dealership that I have worked at in the past. When I used to work at the Ford store the sales managers loved doing deals at x plan pricing because those deals were more profitable than our average front end gross on new vehicles. If you're willing to work a deal out of state I'm sure I could connect you with someone there that would save you some $ over xplan pricing and deliver the vehicle to you. A,D,and Z pricing is a different story, but you need work for or be directly related to someone who works for or is retired from Ford or one of their dealers.

If you really want a good deal you need to take the loaner on a drive for 2500 miles, then back up into a few things.

Then bring it back...you should be able to negotiate a lower price after that.
