| Order firearms online, but have it shipped to local dealers affiliated, because I don't have FFL. |
You need to get in touch with a local FFL first, to verify he is willing to do the transfer for you, and to agree on the price for the transfer. Good prices are $20-30, as its not much paperwork. Some FFL's are stingy and won't do the transfer at all if it's a gun you could buy from them directly, or will charge an exorbitant price (one near me starts at $95 and goes up, based on value of the transferred gun). Once you have an FFL you can do business with, you need to have the seller ship the firearm to the FFL. Sometimes a seller will only do this once they've received a copy of your FFL's license, sometimes they can verify he has a valid license through other means. Leave this up to your FFL or the seller to let you know what they need to complete the sale/transfer. |
