Lately my smokepro has been having issues with it displaying "---" on the readout after shutting off fan, and I suppose the auger and igniter too. Not sure what's causing this. Figured it might be my chimney cap was waaay too high. I think it was like 2" high!! So I adjusted it. Smoking ribs now. It's really hot outside and don't really want to sit outside monitoring it the entire time just so I can start it back up, bypass start etc. So my question is, what likely was causing that error? How to stop it from reoccurring? Also, how do I monitor my smoker in case of error? I thought about getting remote thermometer, but that won't tell me exactly when the grill shuts off as there I'll be a lag.... and then I'd lose precious that could have been spent smoking it, bringing it back up to heat again. I know I could upgrade the Camp Chef smokepro board to a wifi module...but that's like $200 and... it's a smoker I bought used for $100. For $200, I'd rather save up for a brand new smoker...honestly. Only other option I thought of... was to buy another Wyzecam... slap it on the side of the hopper and point it right at the readout.... perhaps use that in conjunction with a remote thermometer? Is it possible to perhaps use some kind of wattage monitoring device on the outlet that can send an alert when it notices the wattage dips below a certain wattage? I figure if the auger, fan and igniter are all shutting off when the "---" pops up... then the wattage used should be significantly reduced. Are there any devices that do this? |
