How do you find a good local attorney?

I need to talk to a criminal attorney how would I find a good one?

I used to use a referred guy from my fellow crimies. Surely you know someone who has used a good one? Maybe not. What state/charge if you feel comfortable answering that. Im not necessarily assuming it's you who is charged.

Start by disclosing your local area as someone here may know one in your AO. Ask other lawyers you know for a referral. If you know a criminal court judge, ask him/her. Local bar association will likely have a referral line, but that can be a gamble.

I called the local bar assoc. and got a GREAT referral, but it was for a civil deal.
