A set of BF Goodrich for my F-150 was a little over $800 a couple of years ago. I'm not looking forward to the next set... I paid 1500 for 5 cheap aluminum wheels and those tires, mounted and balanced. I would pay more than that for just tires now. Luckily I never used my spare, so that's one less to buy.

If you're willing to use stock tires, just go on craigslist and look for tires that were just taken off a new truck because some idiot needed to ruin a perfectly good truck by putting 25 inch wheels and lowering his truck to the point where it scrapes on every pothole or dip in the road.

| Yep tires and batteries both get a little more expensive each year. I worked at a place that sold auto supplies for about 5 years an during that time the price of tires went up about 20-25% average so figure 4-5% a year. I've been looking at tires too and not to excited about the prices they are now. |

Buy BFG KM2s. I picked up a set of KM2s in 35x12.50x15 with a set of 8 lug 15x8 black steelies for 1200 last year. They have 12k on them and look new. My previous of KM M/Ts lasted 40k and still had lots of knobbie on them when I got bigger tires. Had those in a smaller size, they just don't stick nearly as well. I realize I'm giving up tire mileage for the grip, but for now it's still worth it. If tire prices go up again after this, I may just put 28" all terrain tires on it.

heres what really happened. The us tire companies bitched to the govt about cheap Chinese tires cutting into their profits. So the govt taxed the shit out of the chinese tires to level the playing field. Then the US companies decided their "premium" tires where worth more than the crap chinese tires so they raised prices accordingly. So now the govt is getting rich off chinese tires and the us companies are getting rich off their overinflated tires, and we are broke after paying $1000 for some rubber. ETA he taxed china tires at 35% in 09. Thanks obongo. |

Maybe this one? |

I appreciate the help, but shipping would kill that deal. I'll just wait for a sale, suck it up and buy 8 tires. Thanks for the help though. |

I thought those might be close enough for you to schedule a road trip and go get them. What part of Arkansas are you in? The tires I linked to are just a bit north of Memphis Tennessee. Hot Springs, but it's ~1200 for new (I only need 4, my spare is unused). The difference would be used up in gas to get them. |

Just lowball him with an offer of $600 and see how it goes. |

Just had my tires changed this past Saturday (at Costco). Total for 4 275/60 R 17's was $770.80 (including mounting, balancing, etc). I know small tires are cheaper. Yeah, I called a local tire shop when I was shopping around, and they quoted me damn near $1300 for the same size tire, in a brand I'd never even heard of. Those prices reminded me of what it used to cost me for my 38" Groundhawgs when I had my lifted Ford (in the 90's). |
