as an aside, i dunno where the craiglist pic is from, but here in southeast kaintuck I can get out with my camera and show you pics of homes that look like abandoned condemned places rob zombie would film in....but actually have people living there with no running water or no /pirated electric etc.
I can show you children in their natural habitat that look like white somalians. I can show you what is essentially a third world right here in america, and largely because of a lack of education and opportunity...institutionalized hereditary ignornance and neo-fuedalism. Counties where the same last names hold the same elected positions for generations as if by birthright...local governments built on malfeasance and corruption and color of law abuse by the numbers....poverty that looks like south america or afghanistan.....places where regulation and enforcement ensure no competition for the established few at the expense of the many who are powerless. They won't let ya mine or log, using law and regs to stifle competition, they won't let ya grow or sell weed or make and sell booze (selling booze is illegal here btw) they just generally want you to stay still and dumb and quiet, toil for the low wage and be happily abused because of your grattitude for meager employment.....entire generations living off of foodstamps welfare SSI social security and black lung checks...I can show you entire counties where the local governments cant explain their missing or empty tax coffers or evidence lockers and yet seek to bridge this shortfall gap by making arrests and only giving cash bonds, or by getting kickbacks for putting people on house arrest through 3rd party companies etc. I'm betting that everywhere in America there are out of the way places that are third world and/or sport some of the worst corruption and abuse at local levels ever seen anywhere. Its one thing Dave_A is often right about, the state and local governments are often more abusive and exploitative than the central government. and in some places time stands still for the most part. He's speaking the truth. I have been to third world countries. Our DS told stories of Iraq and Afghan. I told them if they ever wanted to see what it's all about come some parts of Kentucky, it's bout the same damn thing.
