Anyone played it yet? Debating on whether to get it or not..

I preordered it and Assasin's Creed III and both came out on the same day.  Installed ACIII first.

I never played the prior games on the original xbox or the one that was made available for the 360 prior to this.  I will probably buy it in a year or so when it hits the bargain bin.

I played all the other Hitmans and I liked them, so I was excited when it was announced, then I got hooked on the AC series and just finished AC Revolations.

I played all of the previous games.  Plenty of fun, but I will wait for the price to drop.

I got it on release day.  I was sick of the bugs in MOH: Warfighter so I traded it in and picked up Hitman (waiting on AC3 because I still haven't finished Revelations. lol).

So far, I am really digging it.  With the added "Create a Contract" mode (online play), the replay value is literally limitless if you are a big Hitman fan.  20 levels for the story mode and an estimated 75,000 contracts accessible online (as of now and numbers growing rapidly) that are created by both IO and other players.  Creating a contract is pretty slick.  You can choose your targets, how they are disposed of, disguises, etc. etc. etc.  Plus, completing contracts allows you to unlock and buy more upgrades, disguises for your jobs.

Storymode is a little different but I'm getting used to it.  Since you are now rogue, you don't have the safehouse and support where you can stash all your weapons, upgrades and such but there is no shortage of tools in the game.  It has been so long since I have played a Hitman game, I can't remember the game play to give a comparison but for me, right now it is a very welcome break from BF3.

If you need a game to get, get it.  If you have one to tie you over until the prices come down a notch or when pre-owned copies start showing up, then wait.  But I think if you're a Hitman fan, you'll dig this.

Rentable at Redbox, wait for price to drop to buy though.  Limited loadout in campaign, often your targets expose themselves.  It is about patience and timing, firefights are a bad idea.  Not too many paths to a target though.

If you are a big fan of the franchise:

Decent game, but not a Hitman game. You spend a lot of time running from everyone, hiding from everyone, and watching cut scenes. Ridiculous storyline, and retarded characters. That is a problem considering that this is the most story driven Hitman game to date.

There are some great levels, but they are few and far in between. Plus the problem is that they are levels, not missions. You don't even get to the target half the time before a cut scene takes over and ends the level. Loadouts are gone, as are customized weapons. You go into a level armed with whatever the story dictates.

This is my one of my favorite game franchises (probably no. 2 on my list) and I'm very disappointed.

I cleared quite a few levels with running gunfights using the cover system. It was either sneak past twenty NPCs or just blast them. I just ran through them like you would a GTA4 gunfight. Cover, pop up, shoot, move.

I need a new game after finishing up that slog-fuck of a game L.A. Noire.

I'm enjoying it for the most part.  Yeah I definitely miss the load out/customization but seeing as how you are no longer supported by the group and are complete rogue, it makes sense that you don't have a set HQ/safehouse/hideaway to do any of that.  With games like this, I try my damndest to complete a level without ever firing a shot or any subdues so it can take me a loooong time to complete a level (and many tries) so the challenge is still there for me.  It is definitely not the best of the series but I don't rule it a complete loss.  Hindsight, I might have waited until it hit the resale shelf but I was so sick of MOH, it was worth the extra coin to me to ditch that game and pick this one up.

It's a neat concept at first, but does start to slog-fuck midway through. By the umpteenth time you find a naked dead chick in an alleyway, you quit caring who did it.

The detective angle was fun, but the combat was clunky, and surprisingly, Rockstar made a somewhat bland city. Give it a try though, it is a unique game.

I liked L.A. Noire quite a bit actually. It was completely different compared to just about any game available on a console. It was, however depressing, and I didn't like that you were just a puppet controlling a guy who made his own big decisions that you may not have made, that lead to consequences that you could totally see coming.

Played through the intro and the Chinatown level last night.

Beautiful game. Controls work well and I can definitely some replay valve. Especially once I learn the levels and go through it on the harder settings.

Try the Create - A - Contract mode as well.  When I first got it and tried them, there were already over 75,000 contracts available to play.  I've created a few myself and played a few.  The lower payout contracts are pretty basic and quick but the ones that are worth $200K+ are a bit more involved.  Especially if the creator has stipulations about how the targets are to be taken out.

The intro is cool. I beat Chinatown in a couple of minutes by stumbling upon a fairly obvious way to set up the target. Attack of the saints, Blackwater Park are great levels. I keep replaying them and the intro over and over.

The game is beautiful to look at, and the new attack mechanics are sweet. No more dookie walk to use the fiber wire on a target.  First person shooting option is gone, but the point shooting angle is getting addictive. Like I said, it's a decent game, but not a Hitman game in my opinion.

I'm not alone in that opinion though. I joined hitmanforum.com years ago when Contracts was out and hadn't been there since I had played the shit out of Blood Money. I went back there last week, and the majority those guys are raising hell about the new direction. Some love it, but a lot are already waiting for the next game supposedly being done by a new developer.

I pre-ordered this game through Gamestop and they sent me a code for PC versions of all the old games. I only ever played the first one so that was pretty cool.

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!
Your score is cumulative.

If you go back and replay a level your replay score is added, or deducted, from your total score.

How do I know this you ask?  I went back through level 3 and killed EVERYONE.

My score is now -47,000.

I played around with this last night. Haven't gone beyond the levels I've completed on the story side though.

Made one last night worth $170K.

Kinda cool.  Except when someone makes a contract that starts you out in a
chicken suit and you have to kill your targets w/ a shotgun.

I don't like how the money ticks down once you kill your 1st target though. But I guess that's to keep people moving.

I really don't like the new direction the game took. It's a stealth game, but it's not a hitman game, if you get my drift.

Been playing a lot over the weekend. I'm really digging it.

Yes the story mOde dose make you play stealthy but if you want to go on an all out killing spree do the contracts.

Picked it up on Black Friday. Already beat it, but pretty fun. Now trying to go back and 100% the levels and find all the intricacies. Contracts is cool if I just want to jump on for 15min and fool around.

Yeah but there are plenty of gas cans, monkey wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, bottles, statues, books, fire axes, knives, bricks, baseball bats, and lead pipes to throw around.

What sucks is you can hit a guy in the face from 15ft with a brick and all it does is alert him. I wasn't expecting to kill him or nothing but I figured for sure it would render him subdued.

Oh, I didn't lose ALL my data. The only thing that was wiped was the story mode. The contracts, weapons/disguises, are still there.
I'd just gotten into DEXTER's underground lab too. I think that was about the 1/2 way point.

Restarted a game last night, replaying it on hard now.

OK, so I played the entire game like a good boy, never being spotted and only killing the people I was supposed to.  Now I want to go through and blow the living hell out of everything.  Can I just replay it and do what I want?  I really couldn't care less what my score is - I don't care what any idiots online think of my score, but I don't want to lose any upgrades that I've earned either.  So is there any reason I shouldn't start over and have a good time?

Naw I think you'll just lose points.

You could just go into contract mode and run wild there.  Though I don't think there's every part of all levels in that mode.

I picked up the Hitman HD trilogy for the PS3. Same games, polished graphics in HD. I have been plowing through Blood Money and nailing SA on 3/4 of the levels.

Playing this trilogy pisses me off more at the direction Absolution went in.
