Hello fellow hunters. I have a hunting trip planned in a few days but I have a bad cough I just can't seem to shake. I was wondering if some of you may be able to share your home remedies. We all know coughing in the deerstand is not an option. Thanks guys I appreciate your help

Don't go.  Any cough drop will produce a smell game will pick up.  You can try sampling different meds in advance, but I never found anything that actually works.

Codeine cough syrup will kill a cough but it's prescription.

Wife can't stand any cough syrup and gets a seasonal cough during mold time. I make her hot totties. Half and half whisky and honey and about a quarter measure lemon juice. Heat it as hot as coffee and put it in a thermos. It will help to quiet a cough. Just don't get carried away.

Ricola honey and mint cough drops

I know scent can set off game,,but

I was at my range last week, popping off some 50cal black powder for about 20 min..
cleaning up my gear, loading the quad,,I turn to look if I've left anything behind on the benches and WHAM
big buck and 3 does go running down the path that surronds the range/woodlot..
that stink of black powder, my sweat and bore cleaner sure didn't chase them away..so

I am not real sure about the whole scent think unless you're in a predator heavy area where game is on higher alert AKA Kenya..

but,, I'm just a cook..

You are gonna need some type of suppressant.

Robitussin DM is good for suppressing and breaking stuff up. You will still cough, but it will be less often and more productive.

Take a shemagh or something with you and when you are coughing try to wait for when the leaves are rattling and cough into it.

Unless you are after some wise old deer don't worry about the smell, I have shot some young ones before while coughing up a storm way up in a tree. Young deer are pretty stupid.

It's overplayed for the most part. The most likely to bust you are those old dry does, they have been through a few seasons and know the ropes, shoot them if you have a tag and you notice them starting to wind you.

Big old bucks are pretty clever too. Young bucks are full retard during the rut, you can throw bag of human poop at them if they are chasing and they won't even know, and young does are pretty complacent.

I shoot deer every single year and my basic plan is like this. Go out and check the stand the week before season, wake up opening morning and take my clothes out of storage, layer up and drive out to stateland nice and early so I can get my parking spot.

Hike out to my stand and sit there until a deer walks by, shoot the deer, take it back to the house and then repeat until all tags are filled.

Picking a good spot and waiting patiently and sitting still are the most important. You might have to sit in the same spot for 5 or 6 hours before a deer actually wanders up the trail, you just have to wait them out. I only shoot them for the meat though, I don't really enjoy stalking out bucks. I would rather fill my tags and then go bird hunting.

Don't know about in FL, but in many states, including AR, there has been a resurgence of whooping cough among adults.

If you have a "cough that you can't shake" after a couple weeks, you may want to see a doctor.

Sorry I don't have a home remedy for you.  Halls cough drops maybe?

Go to the doctor.  Seriously.  Even a doc in the box can fix it.

I know I've seen ads for a "cough silencer". No shit.

Can't be too hard to build one.

Tried this last night with Vicks Vapor Rub. A little on the soles of my feet along with a little rub on my throat n chest. Seems to have worked. I guess I can just cancel out anything coming in from downwind.
