My laptop is giving me an error when i try to start " Msgsrv32 has caused an error in KRNL386.exe" I cant find my original startup disk. I have an ME upgrade copy I just purchased, can i get anything off of it to fix my problem? Thanks |
Unless he wants to network it. God I hated bringing my old 98SE box to LAN parties when all my friends had 2000 boxes. They just plugged in and were ready to go. (we kept security on the network pretty light on LAN days and my buddy's hardware firewall usually kept the bad guys out anyway). I one the other hand had to manually configure tons of crap just to connect for a stupid game of Counter Strike. I think that if the laptop can handle ME it should do alright with 2k. I ran it just fine on an old Pentium 100 with 128megs of SDRAM. |

If you do try to upgrade from ME (Win9x) OS to something newer like 2000 or XP make sure your systems BIOS supports the REQUIRED ACPI functions. Check your manufacturers website. I tried doing an upgrade on a Compaq Persario notebook running 98se and it wouldn't install 2000 or XP for this exact reason. Unfortunately, like in my case, the manufacturer doesn't even support a newer bios upgrade to support the more recent OSs. So I "upgraded" it to ME and called it good. |
