I currently have a vepr in 7.62x39, but do not like the sights on it. I think I would rather have an ar-15, but have never shot one. Right now I can only afford one or the other, so my question is should I sell the ak and buy an ar, or just keep what I have for now and buy the ar later. I dont want to sell the vepr and then regret it later, but I really want an ar. What do you think, can I sell it and not have regrets or should I keep it?

Keep it.  I have regretted ever gun trade I have ever made, EVERY ONE.  That being said, all the guns I had were good quality guns that I figured were not quite as good as the gun I traded for.  Every time I wish I had kept the gun I had traded and waited to buy another.

The ONLY times I would trade a gun are:

1. A deal so good I couldn't pass it up (like that happens very often)
2.  Someone offers me an insane amount of money for something I paid less for
3.  I had a gun that was not reliable.

Otherwise, you will regret it.  I would love to have an AK, but I don't have the money for it.  I know the sights suck, but at the same time, it's a fine gun for what it was made for.  Keep it, and save up.  An ar can be built on the cheap for about $600 if you keep an eye on the EE and buy it in pieces over time (what I did to keep the exwife off my ass.....and I skimmed money off of my own bank acct....that's another story).

Draw down!

Keep the Vepr. They have a very good name in the AK community.

Keep the VEPR it is a good AK.

Everyone needs an AK.

Save and buy the AR, you won't regret keeping the AK.

My AK's are the guns I have the most fun with.
