So, I came across a Benchmade Infidel Mini and the guys wants to sell it to me for $200. I know there are many fakes out there and he assures me that it isn't. Since I'm a newbie and really don't know what to look for I'm hoping something can help me out. Here are some of the pics of it. Also is $200 a good price?

Can you accurately weigh it?

One of the ways to tell a full-sized fake is by weight. I would imagine the same would apply to a mini.

ETA:  here's a video on real versus fake for the full sized.

looks real, but it's kind of beat-looking.
The weighing idea is pretty good.

Sucks, cause I'm not able to handle it.  So, good price, go for it you think?

That doesnt seem like that good of price for the condition it is in but it depends on how bad you want a OTF knife I guess

for pricing.

Personally I'd probably pass for $200, doesn't seem like that great of a deal considering the condition. You can buy a new Microtech Ultratech for a little over $200. If you want to spend $200 on an OTF knife that would be my pick.

If it bothers you that much, I'll take it off your hands. Friend of mine has both the full sized and mini models.

That's full MSRP, actual street price is way less than that. I see them used under $300 fairly regularly in much better shape.

So a new one is 415, 200 isn't a good deal?  What would be I guess a little more reasonable?

If real that's definitely overpriced based on the condition. I would pass...

If you are paying a premium because it's a "collector" knife, don't.

In the eyes of a collector, a used knife has very little value, in general, unless it's something damned rare and special. (ww1 trench knife for instance)

Just my .02

Would 150 be better?

I'm not a gambler and having to do all this on faith is not how I like to do business, so I'm thinking it's not worth the effort or money.  Thanks everyone...

I agree its priced too high for that condition.

Check out the Microtech Ultratech. Its a better knife and better price in comparison.

I wouldn't pay over $100 for that knife.

The blade is in poor shape and needs work.

Well I passed, said wouldn't take less than 200 for it, so I said good luck with that not having any documentation saying it's real...

Oh well, at least I still have m Schrade and cheap Lightning OTF...haha

The Infidel is a neat knife, but the action sucks.
I want one bad, but I know it's not worth $100 in the long run.
Benchmade makes great knives, but the infidel is not one of them.

A good idea for knife prices (or anything else for that matter) is to seach eBay's sold listings.

It will give you a pretty good idea what stuff sells for.

Except someone paid $45 for a Benchmade deep carry clip that Benchmade would give you for free if you call them.

I have to disagree, I don't know if it's just the "auction effect" or what but in my experience many people often ask and even pay retarded prices for knives on ebay. It's like the knife equivalent of armslist.

It's a great place to sell though

It's not a bad deal if you want one. I like mine.

That one looks rough. I wouldn't buy for more than 75 bucks.

Benchmade WILL fix it up for you usually for free.

Wow, a 400 dollar knife and people here are saying the wouldn't pay 100 or even 75?  So, what would be a good price?  Not being an ass, but I've been looking for one for a bit now and this is the cheapest I've found one.  Heck the clones cost 50-100?
7/11/2014 4:29:16 PM EDT

For $175, if you over pay $25 for it and you get something today and not have to spend 6 more months searching out a deal then do it.

150 if you really want it. I wouldn't buy a used otf though.

If it was in decent condition I'd go for it. But it's pretty beat up looking, the spear point of the blade shouldn't be blunt.
