[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Help My computer keeps dialing-up

I installed norton system works this weekend now my computer keeps dialing up. I have turned off auto update and everthing else I can think off but it keeps dialing-up about every hour. I can't remember how to check to see what is causing this. Any ideas.

Open IE.

Tools, Internet Options.

Connections tab.

Set it to "never dial"

Norton has some "live update" features that might induce this behavior.

Norton stuff (with the exception of the antivirus) sucks. I would be getting rid of any of that stuff that you dont really need.

If you upgrade to cable then you won't have to worry about dial up[;)]

Do you have zone alarm, I installed it and this very thing happened??? Don't know why except they have a version out that has some bugs and maybe you got this version.

Or he could have those pesky porn dialers. You know those little .exe files that promise free porn but only to dial international phones numbers and rack up your phone bill?
