What is the heaviest gun you've ever carried for a full day? My Dan Wesson .41 mag 6" heavy barrel tips the scales unloaded at over 50 oz. It's the heaviest handgun I've carried. It even out weighs my Desert Eagle Mark VII. |
I met a guy who CCWed a Freedom Arms .454 Casull with a scope mounted in a shoulder holster. He wasn't even trying to be funny about it.

Well I'm down with that. I mean it's a good gun and I'm sure he's accurate so... ok. Now over penetration might be an issue and in NYC you might get some looks but I believe there is a place to carry every handgun. If I was backpacking in the sticks I might carry a FA .454 scoped too (If I could afford one that is.) ![]() The G22 fully loaded is 34 oz. Hate to say it dude but that's a pretty wussy heavy carry. I'd give it a 2 out of 10. |
sorry, i have a horrible sinus headache and i wasnt quite paying attention to the title. i have a 629 with a 6inch and i wouldnt carry that beast for a CCW for any reason known to man. i would rather carry a pocket full of marbles to toss. |

The FN P90 tips the scales fully loaded at 6.6 lbs! The Ruger P90 is only 34 oz. The Mac 11 fully loaded is 3.5 pounds or 56 oz The Ruger Super blackhawk is 45 to 52 oz. I've carried my 629 it's a snap compared to the others. It's only 2.8 pounds or roughly 46 oz. Muddydog, I'm just picking on you I figured you'd need a 1919 in your back yard! For the 1911 guys I've carried a steel 5" every day since I turned 21. But it's the reason I started this thread. After the Dan Wesson and the DE it's a light weight and so easy to draw... It's all perspective. |
Probably wouldn't have that much effect. The "thong" part is much thicker then a conventional slide because it doesn't go around the top. If it was full coverage, it wouldn't have to be nearly as thick and would probably end up weighing about the same. Plus the slide weight has to stay pretty similar or you can screw up the timing and have to change a bunch of other stuff to keep the gun running. |
