Searching turns up:
NoScript
Options|Embeddings|Forbid <VIDEO> / <AUDIO>
preference to
control HTML 5 media blocking.
Also...
"left-click on volume control in the task bar and click 'Mixer'.
The Application Firefox volume was set to 0"

That's a weird thing with a certain soundcard I think. Worth looking at I guess.

Most of all, go to Help in Firefox, and click on Check for Updates to make sure you have the newest FF.

Here's their support forum:

Like I say, I've read where people installed noscript and it somehow turned their system volume down.

The one guy said that his soundcard's software mixer had individual application volume settings.

And make sure there isn't a disable box checked in options both firefox and in noscripts options.

Other than that I can't imagine wtf. Been using it at least 2-3 years now without any trouble

What soundcard do you have?

try tools, addons, and disable noscript to check results.  I installed it a few days ago (had it once before) and have not had that problem

eta:   click the volume icon and check volume levels.

Wait, first, do you have a video stored on your computer you can watch?

I need to know if your audio works at all here...

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties
Should say what device you have, and present your main volume and mute controls.
You can click the hardware tab and the device properties will say if it's working properly.

Ok, I'm glad to hear that.

Sometimes... weird shit happens. I'm glad it's alright now.

Feel free to PM if you run into more problems and I'll try to help.

It's probably because I didn't take the time to "learn" the peculiarities, but after I loaded NoScript, Firefox turned my computer into a piece of unusable shit.  Nothing would load, things disappeared, it was horrible.  Every time I opened FF, the first thing it would do is want to "update" NoScript, and every time it did, it screwed the computer up more.  I tried turning it off/uninstalling it/fixing it, but it just kinda took over the whole machine.  It was blocking EVERYTHING, and it was an ordeal just to open a webpage (if it would let me at all). I went to the tools/settings and turned everything off, but it basically said FU! and completely screwed the machine up. It even screwed-up IE. I finally wound up re-loading the OS just to get rid of it (Firefox).

I'm far from being a computer expert, but I've been using/fixing/building them since my first IBM 8086, 5 1/4 floppies were all the rage and when RAM was $20 bucks a MEG!!  I had no problem with FF until NoScript went berzerk.

Well, I noticed that.
NoScript does nothing except stop scripts from running in Firefox, and firefox only, and that's all.
You got some bad acid man. Bummer.
I'm not trying to be a dick, yet I'm sure I sound like it...

and I've only been inside computers since 386s roamed...

yet the issue here is you don't understand what noscript is and you're blaming it for crazy shit it cannot possibly do.

It's like saying your 5 1/4 floppy messed up your IE. Impossible, right? It's not even connected? Exactly that.

Yeah, NoScript can be a PITA when you open a web page. I usually just enable the lowest entry. Sometimes there are 7 or 8 other scripts. I might have to enable #2 to see what I want. Maybe it's blocking bad script sometimes. That's the idea.

It never flumoxxed my audio. (My ancient A/V card does a fine job with that )

You just have to LOOK at what you're allowing.

Ebay? Yeah!

Youtube? Yeah!

Facebook? Yeah!

Arfcom? Fuck Yeah!

Allow: www.spywareinfections4free.ru ? NO! NO! NO!

Meh. I'm lazy. If the first entry covers it I don't mind the blank areas. And some of the entries are unintelligible. Who knows if they're naughty or nice?

I also have linkification. It made that ruskie site in your post hot. Not clicking!

You got off easy.

When I added noscript to firefox the video would freeze but the audio would keep going when streaming porno.
