Or been in the woods and felt like you were being watched, or even stalked? I was in the woods once hunting grouse in dense brush along a river. I came into an area that could be described as a marsh or swampy lowland. I was making my way through the dense underbrush when I heard the footsteps of what was clearly another man or two-legged something. I crouched down and sat still for several minutes. Hearing nothing, I began to move again, only to hear the rustling footsteps resume. I crouched again and peered through the brush in all directions, trying to see what had also stopped and was now listening and looking for me. This went on for several cycles as we seemingly stalked each other in a circular pattern. Finally I came to the entrance of the trail I had walked in on next to a large open field. I walked backwards across the field toward my car, watching the tree line for the thing that would soon break cover and rush me, but nothing did.

Shooting deer late in the woods and gutting it while it’s getting dark.  Then hearing the leaves rustling from several directions.  Not sure if it was coyotes.  It’s was something.

I saw something that moved faster than any animal could.

It was large about the size of a person. I was with my father and he seen it too.
We call it "the really fast fucking thing" and still talk about it 20 years later.

I don't want to run into some starving yotes when I'm elbow deep in a deer at dusk like it always seems to be.
There's allegedly wolves as far south in WI as I am, too.
Never been scared off by anything in the woods, but I have had that feeling of being watched and the "you don't belong here" vibe in certain areas.

A homeless looking man with a machete walked up behind my friend with the machete poised to strike. I pointed behind my friend and made the “Uh! Uh!” noise. My friend turned around and pulled a snub nose from his pocket. Machete man turned around and walked back into the thick.

In South Africa, a big black thing, looked like a Cape buffalo.

I was walking in the bush, more of an open grassland with a few small acacia trees dotted around and some other small in height, but thicker in diameter bushes.

As I walked towards one of these smaller bushes, I couldn't see through it or over it, but I could see past it left and right, this was midday, so very bright and sunny.

I was abut 10 meters from the bush, my cousin, Steven was with us and a small group of people, he is a ranger and was leading the bush walk, we had stopped for a bit and I walked off to the bushes to pee, Steve and the group were not far, within sight and sound of me.

I was going to be decent and go pee behind the bush and as I approached it I got this feeling of dread come over me, I though I was about to get nailed by a lion or something. As I slowed to a stop, this massive black blur, the general size and shape of a buff, came running in hard from the left out of nowhere, it went from left to right but behind my intoned peeing bush and never came out the right side. It all happened in the same second, I had the feeling, saw the black mass and turned to see Steve with the rife shouldered and then he lowered the rifle and looked really confused, I turned around and saw no more black shape and Steven came up to me and we both looked around the tree and about 2kms in the distance before another tree or bush and there was nothing.

This thing was massive, Cape buffs are not small, it was faster than anything I've seen and it was gone, we never spoke of it further

Been land surveying for almost 20 years now. Found countless creepy things in the woods.

1. About a mile into a palmetto swamp on the gulf coast I found a patch of astroturf maybe 8ft in diameter on a raised portion of the ground. On the turf was a dollhouse, small table, and kids chairs.

2. A trailer on an abandoned lot behind a school. Went inside to explore and everything had been untouched for a couple decades judging by the labels on the food. In the bedroom there was a bed with bloodstains on the head, and a conical spray of it up the wall.

3. An entire abandoned community of maybe 8 houses in the woods of Louisiana.  Houses looked like people just vanished out of them. No visible road going to or from the houses, avocado appliances say they were from the 70s or thereabouts.

4. A freshly dug empty grave in East Tx near Mauriceville in the woods maybe 50ft off the main road.

5. Charred crosses in the same area as above.

Told this story before. Was hunting mushrooms on public land on a nice spring day with a female friend from work. We walked maybe 1/2 a mile through the woods and came upon a clearing where the trees gave way to a rather unkempt meadow or field, probably a spot for crops back in the day when the land was in private hands.

There was a lone figure stalking around the clearing like a zombie, staggering around with arms outstretched like some sort of Frankenstein monster parody. What made it even weirder the guy {I'm assuming} was wearing a black hood with eye holes and big black cape, with a long black glove on each hand.

We watched this joker for 3 or 4 minutes, he never appeared to see us, and just continued on his nonsense walk. We finally just turned around and went back to where our truck was parked, kinda giggling but we were also kind of WTF?

That was 17 years or so ago, never saw the guy again or heard of anyone else running across him. A little funny, a little creepy.

Not really in the woods, but out on a buddy's family land. Maybe ten or so of us, half of each on either a Gator or lifted golf cart. Messing out in the trees but decided to head to the pasture for a bit.

There's an old bunkhouse out there, no one has used it in ages -- holes in the roof, walls, broken windows, door slaps around. We pull up in the golf cart first and no one says anything, just staring at the stars and whatnot. Then the Gator pulls up. I look towards the bunkhouse and see a flash come from inside, like someone quick pressed their flashlight. I thought maybe it was one of the guys and they flashed their rifle light and it reflected. Didn't bring it up.

We get back to the house to sit around the fire and someone asks if we saw the light flash in the bunkhouse. We all kinda looked at each other and then said yeah. Even though we were all armed tothe teeth and had more ammo than the local PD, we decided we were too drunk to investigate.

The house I grew up in had miles of woods behind it, and as a kid I was back there all the time.  One time dad was walking around back there with me and he noticed a single shot 12 gauge up in a bush, like someone had hurled it to get rid of it and it landed on top of the bush and that's where it stayed.  The gun was haphazardly sawed off really short, the stock behind the pistol grip cut off and the barrel chopped right in front of the handguard.  Way under the legal limit and I remember a little cut in the muzzle where the hacksaw or whatever they used started to cut crooked and they backed out of the cut and started again, if that makes any sense.

Obviously somebody was up to no good, but I never really thought THAT much of it until many years later as an adult, I remembered that shotgun and the fact that our house had been broken into twice when I was a kid, nobody was home either time and we never found out who did it.  Now I wonder if that shotgun had been in our house before.

Shut off the bike, take off goggles, drink water from backpack.. look behind, left side. Look behind, right side

Tree is completely shredded of bark until about 9 Feet up, and the shreds are laying up the base, and it's fresh. Outa there, like last year.

Yep, a few things.

There's an old hippy lady, like 75ish, that walks and area at night, naked.  She is SUPER pale, eerily so. Looks like a ghost. Saw her just after dusk... about 150 yards off, walking, meandering around a trail.  I ended up passing her and didn't realize she was nude until about 50 yards away.  Asked her if she was okay and she just looked at me. Got about 100 yards away and called the PD, told me she’s a local.

Other time I heard rustling in a bush, looked over and saw a guy squatting over another guys face... about 10 ft from me. Yelled at them and got the fuck out of there.  They just ignored me.  Fucking gross.

I grew up in New England in an area that was heavily populated by Indians. As a kid I would walk through the woods and explore every inch of area within a few miles of my house.

One summer day I was exploring a new area. There were  lots of huge boulders spread out through the woods. Some good sized open areas but mostly heavily wooded.

It was starting to get dark and I was trying to find my way back to the road when I can across a hug boulder that looked really cool. It was about 10 feet tall and at least 15 feet across. When I can around the side of it I saw the head of a horse painted on a flat part of one side. It was about 3 times the size of a normal horses head.

It was brownish colored and looked really old. At first I thought it looked really cool, and I started looking around to see if there was anything else painted on any other boulders near by. Then I got this weird feeling like I was being watched.

I started getting creeped out so I thought screw this and started heading back out. As I passed the rock again I wanted to take one more look so I could get my bearings and show my brother later.

The next day I took my brother out there to show him. But the freaking rock was no where to be found! I mean this boulder was huge, there’s no way I couldn’t find it. We looked in the area all day and never found it. I found various places around where it should have been and areas I recognized, but even after multiple trips back I never found that boulder again.

It was like someone didn’t want me to see it again. Very weird!

When I was in Jr. High we rode our bikes down a long county road to a woods we used to hang around and explore .Adjacent to it was farmland and an old, small quarry and an old junkyard where mainly old farm equipment was dumped.  In the woods was a small stand of gravestones from the turn of the century.  As I understood it those headstones had been moved to that location when the farmland was cleared.  That might be true or false.  Don't know.  Anyhow, we went through the woods, spent some time looking at the tombstones and then  explored the dump for a bit.  As we walked back through the woods and reached the headstones, we saw a burning cigar sitting on top of one of the headstones. Just sitting there burning away.  We had heard no cars nor had we seen anyone close to that area.  We de-assed the area in a hurry.  Never figured that one out.  Probably someone just messing with us but this was out in the country and nothing around so it sure creeped the shit out of us.

Where I grew up we did not have woods.  We had flat dirt.  And tumble weeds.  I found a dead man under a sand fighter when I was about 12 years old.  He had walked about half a mile from town, crawled under the equipment and shot himself.  I did not think it was creepy then.  Or now.  Just a thing.

When I was a kid we used to go exploring in the woods behind the football fields a lot. About a half mile in there was this dude who lived in a tent. We would ignore him and he'd ignore us. Sometimes he was home, sometimes not. One of the times he wasn't there we got the courage to go sneak into his tent and check it out. It was loaded with porn magazines. Hundreds of them. Turns out he didn't really live in the tent, he just had a jack shack in the woods. We stole a couple of his magazines to start our own collections and stayed out of the woods for a couple weeks afterwards.

Was walking out to the tree stand in the morning and kept swearing something was disturbing the leaves behind me.  I'd stop, hear a leaf or two move for a second then silence.  Happened a number of times.  Walk was about a mile and a half from the truck, through mostly leafy two track.  I had a super creepy feeling the entire way out there, like I was being stalked/something watching me.  This was in the 2012 time frame.  I ended up arrowing a doe and tracking her down I swear I was seeing cat tracks.  Shortly later some people started reporting a cougar in the Gravel Lake area.  I think a game cam photo of it was floating around as well that MI DNR was denying pretty heavily.

Found one.of those communities in Mississippi. Was pretty weird. I worked graveyard and had the night off with nothing to do so I went for a drive. Flowed the highway north out of Jackson for a while and took a random road off the highway. It was is great shape for a while when it just suddenly went to shit and basically disappeared. The houses looked to be of modern construction but it was like they had been there for a century. Some were in good shape with overgrown yards and others were in serious disrepair. I'm not a stranger of being in the woods and often go wander around in the woods at night in bear and wolf country. That was the first time I felt like I shouldn't be there. Got out of there as fast as my old truck could take me! Was weird. I kinda want to go back and explore in the daylight but I'm not sure it would be safe even then.
