A little joke about the 4th (Joke, no flames please)
To all you non U.S.-born celebrants, here is what it's all about.. Over two centuries ago our forefathers joined together and said in one voice to King George III of England, "Up Yours!" He responded by trying to kill everybody on the continent. But thanks to great American patriots like George Washington, Paul Revere and Mel Gibson, the colonists fought back and six years later they became Americans. Now, 226 years later, we celebrate their vision, determination and sacrifice by dedicating July 4th to barbecuing, drinking beer and subsidizing China's fireworks industry. Happy 4th everyone! |

Thanks! You have a happy 4th too! BTW, I know this is beating a dead horse (there seems to be alot of that on this board, he, he), but I believe that Mel's parents were American citizens that moved to Australia so his dad could avoid getting drafted or something like that (I kinda hope I'm wrong about that). Later, his parents moved the kids back to the US, so Mel was an Austrailain, raised by Americans, and returned to America. Just call me "Cliff Claven" :)

The Gibson comment was more to add less viability to the joke, though I had to watch the beginning of "The Patriot" again last night to just watch him and his two kids kill about 20 redcoats...
