Well, actually a Fujitsu Halcyon split unit recently installed a few months ago.  Original installer has gone AWOL.
Flashing error code A1 - "Discharge temp. error"

ETA:  trying to run heat now
What to do?

Inside one of the covers there will be a list of errors or it's in your manual. Get it online if needed.

Was he an off the books installer?

You can install HVAC if you half ass know what you are doing and it will work good 80% for a few years. 90% of the time you can half ass make it work for 6 weeks. But when shit goes south they disappear and you are going pay out the ass paying a real tech to fix it or even condemn it.

You have a refrigerant leak.

That couple of bucks you just saved by hiring the craigslist contractor or uncle Bob's friend who is a maintenance man at the local school... They just evaporated like the refrigerant in your mini split system.

PS- Look for the oily spot in and around the indoor connections and outdoor connections, that will be where it's leaking from.

Yep. Hiring the guy thats a mental mess with a broken family is far from full fledged.

They'll vanish with your wallet like a leprechaun in the night, every goddamn time.

Op, i've been in the trades a long time, since before I could drive. Your "full fledged" ac guy is either an alcoholic or more likely a drug fiend. His family left him after years of emotional abuse, broken promises, and failure to meet basic financial obligations.

I don't know why in the hell people always want to hire these guys. They always get about 10 or 15 jobs from former customers before they get fired and hit rock bottom.

Then the customer comes back to the former employer and act like it's our damn fault. I fired the loser. My obligation stopped there. You were a moron to hire him and you got what you deserved for trying to side step me. I have overheard to pay and instead of helping me support a quality operation, you pumped a bunch of heroin up a loser's arm so he could go beat his kids and beg his parents for cash just one last time so he could get sober and start over.

Sorry to go on a rant but jesus, how stupid can people be.
