Drudge is reporting that the Dems may only get to 58 seats in the Senate. That would still leave Republicans with the power to filibuster!!!

I WANT TO BELIEVE!
I had to sadly voted straight republican because i was scared of the dems getting the 60. Usually I vote on issues but I had to make an exception. The Congressmen I had to vote for was a Ron Paul supporter who was against the Iraq war and endoresed by Ron Paul so I really didn't want to vote for him but it sure beat Dutch Ruppersburger and letting the Dems hit the magic 60 number. |

Sorry nope Not if there are TWO Independants... we are fucked big if they get 58 You have to have 60 votes to block or end a filibuster. Lieberman will go with the Republicans at least some of the time. They may be able to hold off some of Obama's most insane ideas. |

Maybe if republicans would campaign better and convince the American people they are actually leaders we wouldn't have this problem. Who thought the 'godless' ads by Elizabeth Dole were a good idea?
Who thought it was a good idea to hand pick GWB in 2000? Who thought it was a good idea to privatize social security, even partially, at the cost of adding 750 billion to the budget deficit. People look at a stock market that falls 40 percent in two months and wonder just what the f*** the republicans are smoking. Social Security must either stand or fail as the goverment program it is. Smoke and mirrors plans to weaken it fool no one. |

Lieberman will not go with the Republicans on guns and judges... if they get 58 as gun owners we are in big big trouble. |

Smoke and mirrors plans to weaken it fool no one. And that’s about the sum of it, Fast Jimmy. If Republicans want to know who to blame for today’s results, all they need to do is look in the mirror. Between 2000-2008, Republicans didn’t seem to show much interest in holding their own accountable. The GOP added $4 trillion to this nation’s debt, grew the size of government, engaged in nation building, and did a whole lot of other things that would have Republicans from 50 years ago rolling in their graves. In short, Republicans forgot how to walk the talk. And now, the electorate has decided that the GOP has colored outside the lines once too often, and needs to pay a price. Hopefully, the GOP will do some soul-searching after this election. To be sure, “The Bush Years” have set the conservative movement back by at least 20 years. But that’s the price you pay when you’re willing to trade-in your principles for power. |
