Whenever I buy Curio guns, they tell me to have it checked out by a gunsmith before firing.

What do you gunsmiths do to verify that it is safe to fire?

I'll visually inspect for anything obviously wrong, take it out, point it down range, load one round in it, and holding it AWAY from my face, I'll fire it and hope it doesn't blow up. I then inspect the cartdrige for pierced primers, signs of overpressurization, case stretching or cracking. If after a few rounds like this all appears good, I shoot it like I stole it.

ETA: I'm not a gunsmith though, nor do I play one on TV.

Make sure the barrel isn't cracked, blocked or bulged.

Checked head space.

Make sure the sear will hold the striker or hammer.

All the advertiser is doing is covering himself.
You can do most of the work yourself if you feel up to it.

Thanks for the info.
It seems foolish to me to spend $100 on a gun and then another $100 just to make sur eit is safe to fire.
