Somehow I got volunteered to find new gun mounts for our incoming fleet. We will be getting Tahoes and Crown Vics. Looking for internal mounts that will hold m-4's with a variety of optics. Any help, both pros and cons, would be appreciated.

I use a lock from Santa Cruz Gun Locks.  It was the only one I could find that would work with my SBR with the limited rail space I have for the locking mechanism.  The Santa Cruz locks use a large handcuff style lock that is essentially universal.  With an adjustable mount in a car, it can be used for an M4, an 870, an MP5, or just about any long gun.  I'm very happy with mine.

I just saw these at the Modern Day Marine West show. They don't touch the forend, so any mods don't matter.

I use a Santa Cruz rack as well.  It barely fits my rail system, but it is the biggest that I have seen.

Does the Blue rack pinch the lower?  I looked at the site and didnt see how it secures the rifle.

Yup. It clamps the lower in nice and tight. I damn near tore the owners booth down checking the gripping power.

My new car has Patriot gun locks in it, one for my AR and one for the Mossy 590. Both mounted vertically between the seats.

I just looked yesterday and we use Santa Cruz mounts for our M4s.  Not sure what model.

It will fit M4s with 3.5x ACOG sights as well as EOTECH sights.

Hope that helps.

Does the Blac-Rac have an electric open option?  I don't see a provision for solenoid lock.  Looks like it's fully manual.

I DO like how it protects the pivot pins on an AR.

I suppose the weak point is the trigger guard on whatever weapon is in the rack?
