My Intel extreme graphics driver is causing a crah every so often.  I'm running Windows XP, which tells me about the problem, but says it has no fix at this time.  Any advise?  BTW, I have no idea what I'm doing.

Did you go to Intel's website to see if they have new drivers for it?

In a similar vein, I installed Microsoft Combat Flight Sim III.  On install, it informed me that my ATI Redeon card driver was not supported. I went to ATI's site, and downloaded a driver for a similar but newer card, and the thing runs fine.
Moral is, given a menu of driver choices, it pays to experiment a little.

There are some other tips, also.  Close down as many running programs as needed, and think about if you really need them running in the background at all.  Take them off the startup menu if you don't.
What's your RAM situation?  XP is a hog, so a RAM upgrade might be in order.

Thanks Raf, I took freesurfer off my computer and it hasn't crashed again yet.  Crossin my fingers ...
Course now I need a new popup stopper.
