Quick question to the computer savvy people here.
I was accessing my Netflix account via Chrome using the Chrome app Hola that allows one to access American Netflix, and a security warning popped up (stupid me didn't screenshot it) that I have never come across saying that people could try to access my info through Netflix, yada yada yada, and to report anything like that to Google, which is said yes. They then gave me the option of "Go back to safety" at which point it took me to the normal Netflix site that I am accustomed to. Was this a general warning by Chrome to essentially ask me if I would ever want to report such instances to them in the future in the event of a risk, or was someone attempting to access my computer from an outside source? I tried to google image search a picture of what it was, but all images came back to actual warning prompts used by Chrome, which this looked nothing like. What was this and should I be concerned? And just FYI, I have not changed my internet habits as of late. Literally just the usual allotment of firearm forums, Youtube and Netflix. Any help would be appreciated! |

An app that allows one to access American Netflix called "Hola." That explains everything. Hola allows one to access Netflix in another country. The reason for doing so is other countries have different media catalogs. So for example it allows one to watch something that is available to those in England but not in the United States and vise versa. Here's How You Can Vastly Increase The Number Of Shows And Movies You Can Get On Netflix I thought I read somewhere that Netflix was trying to crack down on its customers using services like Hola to watch content that otherwise would not be available to them in their home country. |

Yup, that's the one! Should I be worried? |

Yup, that's the one! Should I be worried? I assume it is just because you are using a proxy or something to access the US Netflix site. Or a self signed https certificate. Alternatively It could still be someone messing with a connection somewhere between you and netflix. |

I believe it has to do with Hola (bear with me as I am not technically inclined), as Hola is an app I got through Chrome that changes your proxy and essentially makes my computer look like it is browsing from America. I have no idea what a self-signed https certificate is or even how to sign one?? If i uninstall Chrome would that effectively block anyone should the latter of what you said be the case? |

You should be fine it was probably just from switching over to a proxy that gave you the warning. If someone has a bad cert between you and netflix they can do it on other browsers as well. You are introducing a 3rd party into your network so keep in mind you have to trust them and also don't use it for anything like banking or such. |

No i only used chrome because of the hola ability to essentially expand my netflix library. It did happen today as soon as I tried to access netflix. I was just surprised since it was the first time it happened. nevertheless, i uninstalled chrome and will stick to my lesser Canadian netflix. I appreciate your quick responses in the matter! I really don't know computers that well so it did give me cause for concern. |
