What's a canadian gold coin the size of a quarter worth?

A couple more details would help.  If it's a bullion coin like a Maple Leaf, the weight will be right on it.  If it's an old numismatic issue, it could be worth more than bullion value depending on condition and rarity.

is it real gold or plated? Is it a real coin or a commemorative medal? It should say 1/2 oz troy on it like this if it is real. If so spot is it around $310 as of today

It's not gold.  Worth exactly 1 Canadian dollar.

The one in the pic I posted is just well circulated and worn out. They come nice and shiny from the mint.

It was in a plastic container in a bag with 2 maple leafs

That slug worth about 96 cents or so.
  GOLD is a shiny  yellow metal, and is worth about 1100 dollars  per troy ounce.
