Quit doing it due to it was freaking boring. Also going out in a friends jon boat wasnt exactly pleasant. Well going out in his current fishing boat. Got my old poles out and cleaned the cobwebs off. Took the old line off and put new line on all 3. 1 Abu Garcia Cardinal max 3 spinning reel and 2 Zebco 33 metal ones (these were my dads poles). The abu was easy to put new line on. The 33's well I think the dog learned a few new words. Yesterday put leaders on them and tossed a sinker on each leader to see if they cast right. Also got my tacklebox down from the shelf. Totally forgot that the Abu came with a spare spool. Ironically I dont like to eat fish.  When we werekids we'd fish the local river for bullheads and carp. Thats all that we ever caught out to the river. Crappie and bass at the local pond but thats stocked every year |

Back. Well riding on the front of the boat in a fishing chair was rather unnerving. Its an older 15' tiller boat that some previous owner built up a deck on the front for the fishing chair. Its close enough to the front of the boat that you can use the front of the boat as foot rests. Felt like if he chopped the throttle, you'd fall off the front of teh boat. We got where he likes to go and dropped achors. He brought waxworms, I brought night crawlers. Got my hook cleaned off a few times. Just couldnt time setting the hook right. He was getting bluegills a foot under the boat. He uses the bluegills as bait for the larger fish. Nada on them all night. He caught a small small mouth bass on a waxworm and then prceeded to get the hook caught in his pantleg. Was funny watching him try to unhook the hook from his pants while the bass was still on the hook.. Lake was nice and quiet. Slight wind. Wasnt too cold. Got there and there were about 5 kayaks there. Half hour later they were all gone. Wewere totally alone for the last hour we were out there. I totally forgot how much a pita nightcrawlers are to get on a hook. |

I spent years wade fishing streams and smaller rivers for bass, walleye, saugers, pretty much everything that that would hit what I was casting. I don't trust my balance enough to get out anymore.  Taking your time and working a stream you get to see all the critters doing their thing while catching fish. Very relaxing, and good exercise. |
