I have a regular GoPro Hero I got a few months ago. Im wanting a fairly inexpensive option (tablet) to load videos, pictures, and do some minor editing. I'm not a huge Apple fan but was looking into the iPad Air 2, since I'm pretty familiar with the OS. However, i don't believe it has USB ports, only the Lightning. And I can't seem to find a mini USB to Lightning cable. The regular Hero doesn't have WiFi. Also, is the GoPro Studio app compatible with Apple?
If not, then what about the Windows Surface 3? Would like to keep the budget at or around $400 I have a new and powerful laptop, but it's for work and they have new policy limiting personal video / pic usage now that we have a .gov contract. Thought and suggestions? I'm obviously not extremely tech savvy if you can't tell :) |

Not surface 3, a Surface Pro 3.
The Surface is a tablet running Windows RT which is next to useless for what you want to do. Any tablet OS is basically useless for what you're wanting to do. The Surface PRO 3 is an actual full blown laptop computer with actual computer OS not a stripped down lightweight whatever that is NOT suited for what you're trying to do. You want a a Surface Pro 3. |
| Sounds like I need to up my budget, lol. So I guess the tablets can't handle the video quality from GoPro? I don't do any crazy editing, just use GoPro Studio to crop and tune some of the settings. I was really hoping the iPad Air 2 would do it. But maybe I'm better off getting a laptop. Seems like not bang for the buck. Maybe I'll look into a small Asus with a quad core. |

That should be able to handle what you want no problem. |
