Greetings:

I have my domain hosted at GoDaddy. I have not been able to send any emails today. I get the SMTP time-out error when trying to reach smtpout.secureserver.net. Anyone else us GoDaddy for email?

TIA,

PhilbeRT

I'm getting Danica Patrick over here, and I'm not letting her go until it's fixed. I'm hoping that the outage lasts until 2044.

Wouldn't know myself,as godaddy's network got firewalled on our mail server for non stop spamming and their refusal to do jack shit about it.

This is my fear for the future. I may need to switch to a "real" domain host later.

I had to monkey with the SMTP server settings. Port 465 (SSL) was a no-go. Had to go unsecure (no big deal to me, frankly) but on port 80 instead of 25. It seems to be working OK now.

Did the whole run-around with GoDaddy and SureWest (ex-Everest) technical support, with each blaming the other. After I put an end to that horse-shit, they started trying to blame firewall (which I'm not using) and Outlook (even though I'm using Thunderbird). At one point I though about telling "Steve" to get me a damn Indian on the horn so we can get over this mess!

Call your internet service provider.  (Cox, ATT etc.)  They are probably blocking POP3 accounts and is why you can't send e-mail.  You could configure your outgoing e-mail to the provider you are using but kinda defeats the purpose you want.  Call them and tell them you use POP3 for your mail and to take the block off.  They do it for spam reasons.

I never figured out the SMTP with godaddy, I've just been using my ISP to send mail (cox).
