I've been hitting he gym and running to get back into shape for 3 weeks now.  I'm not overweight (maybe 5-10 pounds) just not toned.  I need to lose the little spare tire I've gained over the years since I stopped racing mountain bikes.  I feel like I have a good base now and I'm able to start throwing some decent weights around.  I'm looking for which supplements I should be taking.  Right now, I'm eating right, taking multi-vitamins and I usually have a protein powder smoothie after my workout.  What else should I add to my intake?

I never believed in supplements or any of that stuff, never needed it when I was younger but now that I am ancient.....

Had a member here tell me about OxyElite Pro, I thought hell with it and gave it a try, I loved the stuff, it suppressed my hunger and gave me a ton of energy and I dropped the weight fast

Of course I changed my diet up, the OEP may have worked so good on me because I don't drink coffee so I am not sure how it will work on anyone else?

I started a light workout with weights, I went from 225 down to 191, the package said take for 8 weeks then stop, I did and I am back to eating like a pig and I am back up to 200

Me and the Wife are starting to eat our garden food again

Good luck

I think you have it covered. You might think about taking creatine but its supposedly only good for strength, not so good for endurance and I like pre workout sups for that extra push in the gym.

From what I have gathered most other sups are just an expensive secret blend of herbs and spices.

Protein, creatine, and a multivitamin are basically all you need supplement wise.

To which I'll add water (no brainer) and the two basic types of protein:  whey (fast digesting and taken after working out) and casein (slow digesting and taken at other times, especially prior to sleep).

When people ask me about sups I tend to look at the price and then point out how much they will spend a year on Polyglutylmethylclenbuterol (which is usually well into the hundreds if not thousands for many sups) and then ask them if it's really worth it even IF the product did everything it was touted to do.

My answer is no.

Should work for both, it's not perfect for long term as your muscles deplete the phosphates provided by the creatine and then turns to sugars and fats to replenish which is where endurance energy comes from. Creatine is supposed to be for the extra burst of initial energy. That's my understanding so I take creatine to give me a little extra on the front end. Figured it can't hurt for running.

I don't take any supplements other than green tea. 8 packets made into 1/2 gallon a day. Slight appetite suppresion, slight energy boost, helps keep you hydrated, raises metabolism slightly. And cheap if you buy it in big boxes. (Oh, and lifting only. I don't run unless... Uh, I guess I just don't run.)

I'm about halfway through a tub of BSN NO Xplode as my pre-workout mix.  I have lots of energy and get good pumps at the gym, but I don't know if these feelings are perceived or actual.  At any rate, once I'm done with it, I'm going to substitute it with just a creatine mix as a pre to see if there's any noticeable difference.

This is in additional to my high protein diet and vitamins I take.
Oh, and if you want to get big pumps, you could always look into prohormones
