I used to get them free when my boss was done with his. I vividly recall a particular article in 2007 praising a 20 year old college dropout for somehow purchasing $5 million worth of rentals with subprime mortgages The reporter didn't see anything wrong with it and that, as much as the improbable loans, was an epiphany for me. |

If you want a Cliff's Notes version of the weekly financial news, click here and subscribe to The Kiplinger Letter. It's still pricey but a good concise rundown of what's most likely to happen in the future. They're pretty darn accurate, too. They accurately forecast the Dot Com and housing market busts long before they happened. A weeks-old sample copy is downloadable on the web page.

Paywalls are just self-defeating for publications that use them. No article is that important. If I encounter a paywall, I just get my news / opinion from another source. It's not worth my time to try to defeat the paywall, and I'm simply not going to pay for online content.
What annoys me is that other sources link to paywalled articles. They should at least have a warning so I don't waste my time. |
