German Shepherd Thwarts Home Invasion Dog Scares Off Swampscott Woman's Attacker, Police Say POSTED: 3:07 pm EST January 23, 2010 UPDATED: 3:36 pm EST January 23, 2010 Email Print Comments (5)BOSTON –– A man who allegedly muscled into a Swampscott woman's home and punched her in the face on Friday was chased away by the woman's German shepherd, police said. The 58-year-old victim told police she heard a knock on her door at about 2 p.m. and answered it to find a man in a black hooded sweatshirt outside. Police said the assailant, who the victim described as an Asian man wearing a red bandana, forced his way inside the home and, without saying anything, punched her in the face and knocked her unconscious. "Thankfully, her German shepherd scared off her attacker," states a police report about the incident. The victim said a second man was standing on the sidewalk outside her house, which is located at 18-20 Burpee Road. The two men then fled on foot together towards Lynn, according to the report. Swampscott High School was temporarily locked to keep people from entering because officers feared the perpetrator might have fled the area and could try to find refuge in the school, according to the Swampscott Reporter. |
