To all,

I have a Generac Powerboss 5500 portable generator that is currently putting out about 51Hz instead of the typical 58-60Hz that it should be putting out.  The manual (of course) just says to contact a local service rep and I can't find anything online to help figure out how to adjust the frequency.

Does anyone here know how to adjust the frequency on one of these generators?

I also contacted Generac via email (no published phone number on their website) and got the same response as the manual; contact local service rep.

I'm not real interested in loading up and hauling it to a service rep if the only thing they're going to do is adjust some screw on it and charge me $40.  If it's a legitimate internal problem, then I don't mind hauling it in.

Thanks.

My barely informed guess is that the governor for the engine isn't keeping the engine running at the correct RPM, thus the frequency drop.
