I have an 04 Silverado with factory AM/FM/XM/CD/CASS radio. Have never subscribed to XM.

I was told at the dealership today that it would only work in my truck. Can't be used
in another vehicle without a "code".

Is that right?

I was going to look for a "take out" AM/FM/Multi CD to swap with this one.

I'm neither a tech, nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night but your average GM radio after '95 is theft coded.  You will need to get it unlocked.  And you may have to pay a dealer to do it.

My mom's 2000 Blazer had a Theftlock radio.  When the battery died, so did the radio.  Had to pay $15 to get it unlocked.

Ya know Deej..the owners manual gives instructions on how to set up your own code  for the theft-lok  system......I've done that with mine.
