I just got pulled over and the damn cop gave me ticket for speeding. Damnit I was only going 53 in a 35.

On a side note I got a lecture about why I needed to carry a .45 and a .380 that I didnt think was called for. Did the whole disarm me, unload, call them in thing. At least I got all my rounds back including the ones in the chamber.

It pisses me off when I hear cops take your gun and unload it.  I am not making fun of cops, but a lot of cops don't have all the knowledge of how certain guns work.  It won't be funny when he/she has a ND b/c of the unloading crap.

Buddy of mine told me a story about getting pulled over in eastern Kentucky with his 1911 in his vehicle. The cop couldn't figure out how to unload it and almost shot himself (muzzle pointed faceward while trying to disengage safety). He finally handed it back to my friend and asked him to do it.

Exactly.... Most cops don't have any experience with 1911's.  I don't want the cop or any citizens to get hurt.

Okay- did you tell the officer you have a CWP?

What do you mean you got a lecture about carrying a .45 and a .380? Did you have both and he cop want to know you have two firearms? Or was it something else?

No. First time I have gotten pulled over since I have been carrying. 3 years or so. I dont want to throw info out there until I know how the locals are going to handle it,

Yes, He asked what was in my pocket. I told him a .380 pistol. He reach in prompty and pulled it out. He then asked if I had any other weapons on me and I replied a .45 on my right hip and he instantly went for it and started askign me who was after me and why I needed so many weapons on me.

This is what concerns me about this ever happening to me.  What the hell do you do when the cop shoots himself in the face with YOUR gun?  Hopefully, it would be caught on tape, but if it's not, nobody is going to believe that the cop shot himself.  You're officially fooked.

I would hope that they could figure it out when there is only powder residue on the cops hands and his prints are on the gun.

You would want to demand that a powder residue test be done IMMEDIATELY, i.e. at the scene. Prosecutor would have a hard time explaining how you shot the cop but didn't have any powder residue on your hands, but the cop did.

Of course, if you were coming from the range when you got pulled over, this wouldn't do any good at all...

Wow. A little shocking. Was the .380 in a pant pocket or jacket? How did he even notice the bulge. Was it printing through the material? Did you have it in a holster? I think we need a little more info on this. When you told him it was a pistol, did you follow up immediately with telling him you have a CWP? Give us a little more detail.

I'm an LEO and was told to take my gun out and put it on the seat by a County Sheriff.  He did ask to see my creds afterward.  When I worked the road, I wasn't the disarming type.  I would usually tell them that if they didn't pull theirs, I wouldn't pull mine.

In my opinion, that's the exact right attitude to have. I'm not sure why people want to disarm license holders at all...the fewer people actually handling guns at a traffic stop, the more comfortable it should be for everyone.

Its in my front right pocket in a holster. There is a little bludge but you cant tell what it is. Could be a wallet for all anyone knows (Maybe a cop is more keen on what "might" be in a front pocket).

I jsut got a kedex holster for my 45 last weekend and have been trying it out. I was worried about my shirt riding up while riding my motorcycle without a jacket today (First time since carrying my 45 I didnt have jacket on). He never even noticed the 45 on my hip until I told him and had to point to where it was. So, I guess its working.

He said in the future it would be a good idea if I told them upfront about them when he handed them back. Think I will refrain from telling them upfront in the future if this is the way they want to act.

Not knocking them for anything. Just didn't expect the reaction I got from him around this area and after talking with other deputies about CCW here.

edit: The title was a form of joke/sarcasm becasue of all the talk of JBT here.
