So most people have seen the ruger 10/22 AA gun setup. Costs $600 for the mount and then around $250 for each gun, so approaching $1100 total plus mags and all. Kind of an expensive setup for a toy.
Regardless, despite its silliness, I always wanted one. Thinking about it now though, I'm almost certain I could make something similar myself, using two ARs and do it quite a bit cheaper. Still a little silly, but faux-full auto is a pleasure denied to many. I've got ideas floating around in my head and am starting to draw out some basic schematics. before I get too involved, is there anything I should know? Legal issues? Has someone done this before? Hell, maybe there's already an official thread for this

my wife put one together for my birthday one year, cost her about $800 got a deal on the mount, got some cheap 10/22's and some mags and put it together. it looks awesome, honestly haven't even shot it yet. (yeah, i know) everyone asks about and it's definitely a conversation starter. |

If you've ever handled one it's easy to see how it's done, a simple spring trigger attached to a bar with pins that go through the trigger guards with a cam lobe and a crank. Ejection is what kills the idea. One ejecting up and one down. At least the one I shot was, in the mid 90's. Cool idea but sucked in use. Thing jammed constantly.
If I were to make one from ar's, and I wouldn't . I would use a lefty and standard upper and mount them at a 45 or shallower angle so that the ejection is uniform out both sides and failures less likely. It would probably look cooler as well. |
