Baby is 16 yrs old and was dumped cause she was having accidents in the house , well I am not letting her die at the shelter so she is now in my hospice program and nothing but getting spoiled and hamburgers and hot dogs from here on out   |

 From being on the red list to being in his forever home !! This man is absolutely perfect for scout !! He is a retired veteran who lost his dog to cancer a short time ago and has been depressed, his daughter says he needs a dog to keep him company and cheer him up , I think they both needed each other !!! |

There are those that consider the man/canine bond to be the exclusive domain of the dog fetishist and the weak minded. That devotion to a companion animal belies insufficient character. Don’t believe me? Go peruse a few animal threads in GD and see for yourself. These people are ignorant and woefully misinformed. It has been proven with great scientific rigor that the health benefits, mentally and physically, of having a dog far out weigh the cost of ownership. It is the best bargain in therapy available. This man has been given a new purpose .A reason to greet the day with optimism. This is not a trivial point. You are absolutely correct!! I believe dogs give many a purpose, I know they do for me! I believe that’s why I am here ! I know the man was alone and lonely and now he has a reason to get up has someone to talk to! I wish every adoption I did was this perfect, was this meaningful! Sometimes they just fit perfectly and it’s like the final chapter makes sense now!! It’s hard for me on some days to keep pushing , with so much ugly I see, and I feel like I can’t even put a dent in the rescue world enough to make a difference, there’s always another dog, but yesterday is why I keep going and makes every thing worth it! I felt so close to Mark yesterday, like he was sitting with me while I was doing the adoption, I got to tell the man Marks story and he told me his !!  No dog left behind |

My wife and kids drove to Shreveport to pick up a puppy that a relative could no longer care for. She has been the most gentle, potty-trainable, best dog I could ever ask for. She retrieves birds, rides in a truck, doesn't require a leash, doesn't fight, plays dead, tolerates WAY more than I think she should — I would totally bite my kids. She's my most well-behaved child. Proof dogs are forgiving. This pup started out as Sawyer, the rescue changed it to Scout, and now he is Rocky--and he still loves life and his new dad!

Who rescues who, really? Yoda is a Pyrenees/Anatolian mix that came with ancestory documentation when we picked him up from the rescue. Luna was dumped on our street (regular occurrence where we live). We're thinking GSD/Shar Pei mix. She's not pretty and we wish we could stop her from jumping on new cars but she won't let anything onto our property and guards our kids with her life. Coyotes, armadillos, stray cats, possums, pigs, copperheads and even a juvenile bobcat have never stood a chance in our yard.
